As a photographer frequently involved with the Chinese community, last summer I was invited to take part and photograph a mysterious "Prato Fashion Week Event" (there is no fashion week in Prato, to this day). The invitation came through a friend of mine, by word of mouth. I knew nothing of the event and when I got to the place, no one seemed to really know what it was all about, either. A group of Chinese women were modelling traditional costumes and sporting sashes of a non-existent Prato Fashion Week beauty pageant. They were photographed and filmed by a substantial media crew against the backdrop of the medieval castle in town. Then the party proceeded to an impromptu catwalk and dinner at a local bar. To this day, I still don't know what the whole event was really about, but I decided to photograph it and keep it a mystery, like many events, stories and people related to the local Chinese community.
